Many production facilities have a need for hot water throughout the plant. Examples would include hot water dilution, tank fill, or cases where hot water is an ingredient in a recipe. These applications are often simple, intermittent, and attended by an operator. A complicated control system would be overkill in these cases. The operator can start and stop the system by hand and adjust the water temperature with a simple hand valve or pressure regulator. Because the operator is on hand, the need for automatic controls is limited.
The ProSonix ProJet heater is ideal for these simple applications. The ProJet heater is installed in a system with manual valves and a gauge to measure temperature. The process requires no air or electronic controls and can provide instant, repeatable, hot water in most cases.
Operation is simple. The operator opens the water valve (1), then the steam valve (2). If necessary, the temperature can be adjusted by changing the position of the steam hand valve (3) and monitoring the temperature on the downstream gauge (4). The hot water is immediately available. There is no warmup period or lag in the process. If the steam and water pressures are consistent, the process will be very repeatable, providing consistent hot water time after time.
